The call last night to say ‘thank you’ for your present for her birthday – you were so pleased that she liked the gift.

Your friend who insisted on paying for lunch the other day – for the help you had given her with her recent house move.

The smile and thanks you received when you picked up a scarf someone had dropped and rushed after them to give it back.

Allow more gratitude to come to you as you give more thanks out each day.

Have a Day Filled With Gratitude

As you wake up and your feet touch the floor – be thankful for the new day. It is a clean sheet of paper ready for you to write some great things on.

As you eat your breakfast, be thankful for what you have and where you are today.

As you go about your daily routines, be thankful for them, they get you going each day.

As you come to the end of the day, reflect on all that was great today, say them to yourself, shout them out, write them down.  Be thankful for all that was good for you today.

Just before you go to sleep – be grateful for your day and count your blessings.

Care about Gratitude

With a few words of thanks, the girl picked up her books and skipped out of the store. She cared about how she interacted with people and always said ‘thank you’ with a smile on her face.

The man had asked for a lift that morning as his wife needed the car. He was grateful for one of his colleagues going out of his way to help out. He bought him a coffee to say ‘thank you’ when they arrived at work.

The power of caring about gratitude, shines a light of hope with the world and brings a smile to the face of the receiver and the giver. As mentioned in a previous post, it is all about building that gratitude muscle.

Believe in Gratitude

The bird escaped from the cage in the early hours of the morning. It had seen the opportunity and wanted to explore the world. Normally the cage door was left open overnight so he could fly around the room if he wanted to. The door to the kitchen had been left open and there was a gap in the slightly open window.

The sun was shining and the trees shone with their greenery. There was a gently breeze that took the bird on a tour around the area. He saw lots of people, lots of birds and the beautiful countryside. He felt free.

Yet in a while he also felt alone, he realised he missed his friend who fed him each morning and looked after him. His friend had rescued him and taken him in. He wondered if he was missing him too.

He flew home and the window had been left open for him – he could see the old man, his friend sitting in the lounge. He flew across and landed on his hand. His friend thanked him for returning to keep him company and told the little bird, if he wanted to explore the world that was okay with him.

He would leave the widow slightly open just for the little bird. He hoped though, he would return home at the end of his adventures.

They were both grateful for the friendship.

Gratitude Artistry

Have you ever built your own Gratitude wall?

This is where you pin any ‘thank you cards’ you may have received; photos that remind you of your many blessings; notes that you have reminding you of things you are grateful for; people who you have thanked over the years and maybe a picture of your pet that sat with you when you needed some company or some photos of the birds in the garden that sing to you each morning.

So many ways you can set up your gratitude wall – so you can visualise all the many things you are grateful for each day.

Dream Well With Gratitude

Just as you drop off to sleep tonight, bring in some thoughts of what you are grateful for. This will help to set you up for a relaxing night. You only need one or two gratitude moments that come into your mind first. Then snuggle into your bed and let the great dreams whisk you away until morning.

Practice this and it can help you drift into a relaxing and positive sleep.

‘I am truly grateful for ……… and as I drop off to sleep tonight I carry these thoughts of gratitude with me. They will take me into a great night of relaxing sleep and in the morning I will awake with positive energy for the day ahead.’

Switch Your Thoughts With Gratitude

Sometimes in the night you can wake up and your brain starts to whirl and bring in things to worry about.

A trick that works for me, is when this happens, start to list things that you are thankful and grateful for. If the worry starts to creep back in, gently move your thoughts onto one specific thing you are grateful for and bring it more into focus and explore the reasons why you are grateful.

Build an army of things that you are thankful for and whenever you need them, bring them into conscious thought.

Perhaps write them down, so you can grab the list when you need to remind yourself.
